How the PM Schedule Works

One of the major features of PMXpert that can help you keep your assets properly maintained is the PM Schedule, which provides a fast and simple way to automatically create all the Work Orders you need.  Once you have your assets and services set up, it is easy to use the PM Schedule. Click on a date on the calendar, and you will know what needs servicing up to that date. Click just one button to create all the Work Orders required. The accurate service scheduling prevents users from accidentally missing a service.

In order to use the PM Schedule, you need to set up your assets with services and ensure that the services are scheduled properly.

When you first set up PMXpert, you created all the services you required and chose the Cycle Type on which the service is based: Time, Meter or Meter and Time.  Review Chapter 2: Setting Up PMXpert, Step 6: Services, Entering Services.

Then, when you entered Assets into PMXpert, you assigned the necessary services to each asset.  Review Chapter 3: Assets, Assign Services to an Asset. Also review the Status Code assigned to the Asset; some status codes may cause the asset's services to not appear on the PM Schedule.  Review Chapter 2: Setting Up PMXpert, Step 8: Status Codes, Create Status Codes.

If you have properly recorded the Meter of the asset, the asset’s services will be automatically scheduled at the correct time and pulled into the PM Schedule when due.  Note that the PM Schedule will display scheduled services that have not yet been assigned to Work Orders.  Once a Work Order has been created for the service (see Generate Work Orders from Schedule Services), the service will not appear on the PM Schedule.

If you set up a metered asset with meter service, PMXpert will calculate the service’s scheduled date using the estimated usage of the asset per day and days per week.  As the asset is used and the meter is updated on the asset, PMXpert recalculates how much longer before that asset reaches the required meter and adjusts the scheduled date accordingly. The service then appears on the PM Schedule for that scheduled date.
The service may appear on the PM Schedule before it is actually due if the PM Schedule screen displays services in advance, for example, if you select a date a week in advance.  At that point you could select the service and generate a Work Order for it.  However, if you set a minimum meter on the service, and the asset hasn’t reached the required meter, the service will still not appear in the PM Schedule.  The main point of setting a minimum meter on an asset service is to prevent services from being scheduled before they are actually required. Note that minimum meters on “meter” services act differently than minimum meters on “meter and time” services. With minimum meters on “meter and time” services, PMXpert uses the estimated usage of the asset to calculate the date for that minimum meter. If the scheduled date obtained from the "time" part of the service is earlier than the calculated minimum date, the calculated minimum date will be used.
